    Exclamation PIO Card for new born

    Hello,

    I've few questions, i tried to contact consulate but, was not possible.

    a) Since I need to travel to India soon, I've to apply PIO for new born baby.
    May I know do I need to take the baby to the consulate for applying. Since he is just a month old, It is not easy for me to take him, but I need to get the PIO sooner to travel back.

    There's nothing on the CGI-SF website about a personal visit being necessary, so the usual documents should be OK. Do a site search for 'india visa for newborn'.

    However, they state a 15 working day processing time (and there are no guarantees about that), so your two week departure plan seems risky time-wise. You might consider a regular visa for now and doing the PIO when you can handle the processing time. Some info here:

    Thank you for the information.
    I was able to contact the consulate through email, and I got correct response.

    I went in person to apply for PIO. (because in order to avoid the Apostilled copy of baby passport)

    And I was able to show all the docs for verification.

    Hi csubbiah,
    It will be nice to know what an authority said in this matter.Were you able to get the PIO in one day?.....What documents did you carry along with you?

    Did you take you wife along also?

    If possible than can you please paste the contents of the e-mail here...
