On H1B,How to apply GC processing

Hello,
I got my H1B approved. I am asking very rhetoric question please forgive me.
Due to recession most of the companies are not giving project to H1B, they are looking for Green Card holder. So What is the easiest procedure to get Green Card(except marrying US citizen/ GC holder). If I apply for Green Card processing now then can I travel back to india? Can spouse come here when its in process?
I know this is a common question but I dont have any idea about this..

---- Yes, you can travel to India and your spouse can come to the US while the GC is in process as the spouse can get a H4 visa to travel
