Can visitors apply for F1 / H1 ?

Hi,

Iam a green card holder. I got married after getting my GC.
Fortunatly my wife already has the B2 visa and she used the same to enter US for 6 months. Her visa validity now is till sept 26th 2009.

Now... I would like to know what are my options to extend her stay here?
Can she apply for F1 visa? or Can she go for H1 ? (I mean is she eligible to apply for those ?)
or applying for current visa extension is the good idea?

Visitors cannot apply for COS directly. You may petition for her GC but that will take a long time. For H1 she needs to have a legitimate job.

I know its going to take long time if i apply for her GC.
Just wanted to know whether i can apply F1 or H1 when she is here on B2.

if not , is there any other solutions to extend her stay here.?
