Transfer of residence

hi,

I am going back to india after 2 years of stay in usa. i plan to take with me a tv and a home theater system. If i take the transfer of residence, how much duty i have to pay? Also, do i need to own them for certain period before i leave?

If you plan to come back you cannot do TR!! TR is allowed only once in 3 yrs. In which case the duty would be 15% on the electronics. If you are allowed to do TR then within Rs25,000.00its all duty free..I am sure you'd hv to show them proof -- like tickets etc. for TR.
Its a good idea to write to the customs in your city - to find out some specifics.
