1. Do i need to get an interview appointment for my son who's 9 years old after i get my own schedule?

2. Is his personal appearance before the consular officer a requirement?

Yes I think you would need to take your son to the consulate, I had to take my son who was just 3 months old for the interview in Mumbai .....and you would need to take a appointment for him as well, you might consult with any other senior members over here...
