Son's US Passport Expiring soon. OCI on which Passport?

My situation is my son's US passport is expiring in April 2010. I have just applied for OCI on his existing passport. What should I do?

1. Get the OCI on the existing passport and transfer it when we get the new passport after Apr 2010.

2. Get the new one now and see if I can get the OCI stamped on the new passport.

What should I do, are both possible?

In case you have acquired a new US/Foreign passport since you applied for OCI, kindly send Expired US/Foreign passport in original and a photocopy of first page of new US/Foreign Passport. The U visa sticker has to be pasted on the Passport with which application was made.
