Hi all.

That's a great forum and thanks for your support and answers. You people have been very supportive. I have a question about naturalization.

It is my third year in the US, however I have been out of the coutry for 6 months. Everything went fine on my re-entry at the border, however, I am concerned that on the stamp in my passport where is the date of admission, the immigration officer wrote with a pen: "Out 6 months". To be accurate, I left the US on March 25th and came back on September 20th. That is exactly 179 days. Now the point is:
Can this reflect my application for naturalization and the whole process of naturalization?
I would appreciate if anyone who have been in similar situation shares his/her experience.

I believe in N-400 interview, they check the USA Re-entry date stamp on your passport. So, they go according to that date. If you mention different date on N-400 application form, IO might bug you with lot of questions.

Well, I certainly remember ALL my leaving and re-entering dates. The point is what impact can that pen written: "Out 6 months" can have for my application, because it is actually less than 6 months. If it was more than 180
days, I understand anything like that, but may be the officer was just confused or miscalculated those things.

How about partly days - I mean the days on the departure and arrival? Do they count as a days spend in the US or out of the US?
Because if they began to count my years of continuous residence from the beginning I should know that.

Any partial day in the US, is considered a day in the US. Remember you will have the opportunity to discuss your travel in the interview. Try not to worry too much and even before you are call in for an interview. Use this time to study for the test and do other prep work.

I will follow your advise and begin with my preparation for the test soon. However, I am still confused about this writing in my passport. Why the officer had to write "Out 6 months"? What is the point of this? I mean, on the day of the interview they will see my passport, my claim of the days outside (about which I am certain) then they will say: "Everything with that guy seems normal to us, we checked his outside of the US history, he is OK, but then why the immigration officer wrote "out 6 months"?

You see what really confuses me is how important is the border officer's writing and do they really care about that at the naturalization, or it is just something minor and they ignore it as far as they are certain about my days in and out.

At the interview, they will have your passport and review the days you were out. it doesn't matter what the officer wrote. The interviewing officer will review the days you were out of the country. If it within the allowed, then you will be ok.
