Default Withdrawing greencard application for parents

I am a US citizen and I applied for my parents greencard last month.
I applied for the greencard because I thought that it takes 5-6 years for the greencard for parents to be approved. (I know I did not do proper research). I just found out that parents' greencard is in unlimited category so gets approved very fast.
My parents will not be able to come and maintain their green card status for next 5-6 years, in fact they can not come for any length of time for at least another year.
    What are best options now?

    - option 1 - Withdraw their greencard application. I will lose the fees I paid but other than that are there any disadvantages? Their visitor visa is valid till 2013, will they still be able to use that visitor visa to enter US temporarily whenever they need?
Once their visa expires, will there be any issues in renewing the visitor visa?

    - option 2 - do nothing, greencard is approved but we do not follow up with the interview/biometrics process. In this case well, will there be issues in entering US with the exisiting visitor's visa? any issues with renewing the visitor visa as well?

Seems like option 1 is better than option 2 to me.

I would like to hear from experienced people in this forum about their thoughts and recommendations in this case. Any other options that people can recommend will be useful as well.

    thanks
    Mini

From my little knowledge, I would go with option 1. Withdraw the application and reapply at a time that is most convenient.
