L1 to H1

I got my H1 approved from company X last year starting from oct 2009. But I dont want to go for H1 stamping now as im joining a small consultant company there and definitely they would give 221g as all my other friends in that company got them......

But my current company offers me to send me on L1 to US.....

Does that mean that my H1 petition becomes invalid ?

and How is the possiblity of chnage of status from L1 to H1( where I already have I797 approved)

No. H1 will be valid.
It's possible for COS from L1 to H1.
