H1 and H4 extension/transfer

Hi,

My H1 visa is due to expire on April 10, 2010. I have applied for extension and I have been told that the process will take 2 to 4 months.

I would like to have clarifications on the following points:-

1. Can I transfer my H1 to a new company while the extension is in process.
If I first get my H1 transfered to company B and if I receive the
extension from Company A later. Which status will be valid.
2. Secondly, my wife has a H4 visa and the validity is till 30 Apr 2010. She
cannot travel to US till Apr 15 due to personal reasons. Can she travel to US between Apr 15 and Apr 30 and then file for her H4 extension. I am not sure if I will have my extension approved by that time.

1. Both H1s would be valid. You can work for either employer after approval.

2. Yes, she can travel. If your extn/transfer is denied she can't apply, though. You both have to leave US.
