Question Visitor visa for my minor nephew

    Hi
I have a unique situation. Both my parents have valid B2 visitor visas. They wish to bring their grandson (my brother's son and 4 yrs old) with them on their next trip to the US. I wish to have him here too.

My brother has no intention of visiting US along with his son. My nephew (brother's son) unfortunately lost his mom on the day he was born - so my brother is his sole guardian.

I'm in a dilemma how we can apply for the visitor visa for only my minor nephew who is only 4 yrs old ? Is it mandatory that my brother also apply for visitor visa (even though he does not plan to visit) ? Or can the visitor visa be applied only for my nephew ?

I have done some research on my own, but have not found any clear answer so far. Pls HELP!!!

    Thanks in advance,
    cassa

    Post

    Hi

I would also like to add that the reason for the trip is for my parents and nephew to spend some time with my family and kids here during my nephew's summer holidays and do some sight-seeing.

Is it possible to apply for visitor visa (on my sponsorship) for only my nephew ? What is the process for doing that ?

If applying only for a minor person is not possible and my brother should either hold a US Visitor visa or apply for one along with his son, is it ok if my brother applies for the visa even though he does not intend to use it in the near future ?

My brother consents to sending his son with our parents to the US alone.

Please reply soon - hoping your replies will clear my confusion a bit.

    Regards
    Cassa

    Hi curlygirl and immihelp!

Thanks so much for your replies. Pl let me know how the interview went once it is done.

I still have a further question - since my nephew is only 4 yrs old, will he need to appear for personal interview or can he avail the drop box facility ?

Also would it help to also attach the B2 visa details of the grandparents as a supporting document ?

    Thanks a lot!
    Christy.

Ok Immihelp.. thanks for pointing me to the interview related page also.

I have one further question regarding if and will my nephew be questioned during the interview at all ? or will my brother who will accompany him to the interview be allowed to answer on his behalf ?

Also all these things related to showing strong ties to home country etc. - its difficult to see how we can prove such things for a minor child ? I mean apart from family (that he has his father in India) - there is nothing else we can show right ?

    Thanks for your responses

    Default Please help

    Hi Frnds,

I want to apply visitor visa for my niece (4 years) and she only has her mom in India and parents are separated (not divorced yet).

Her mom has a US visitor visa and not my niece. Now, I want to invite both to US.

How can I apply visitor visa for a 4 year old with only one parent? Do we need proof of separation etc? Thnx.
