F1 to H4

Good morning I am on valid f1 visa and I am married and previously i was in US over a valid H4. I am dropping out of the university. So I am wondering what I should to do stay on the valid H4 as opposed to f1

What is your most recent I-94? That is your status. (I-94 may be the one given at POE or one attached at the bottom of an approval notice)

If your most recent I-94 is F1, you must file a COS to H4 before you drop out of full-time student status or leave the US, get H4 visa and enter in that status.
