Visitors visa period

My dad appeared for an interview yesterday and he was told that he is going to get visa. They have kept his passport and told him that it will be couriered to him in next few days. Any idea for how long his visa will be issued. Does everyone get 10 year visa or does it depend on the officer?

Congratulations on your father's visa. People say that they will mail the passport within 1-2 days. So, you will know the answer very soon. Some people get single-entry 6months visa, some get multiple entry 6month/1yr/2yr/5yr/10yrs visa. It is based on how the visa officer interpreted your case and depends on how confident he felt that the applicant will return back to the home country. In other words, it is a matter of luck.
