OCI and Name difference

Hi

I have a indian passport my name appears as follows

surname :- YYYY X YYYYY
givenname:- ZZZZZ

My first name and last name is YYYY YYYY. my birth cert, marriage cert has YYYY X Y Z ( Y = lastname, Z = middle )

All along in US I used YYYY X ( firstname ) YYYYY ( last name ) my US passport also has the same now.

While applying OCI @ the consulate they are asking me to advertise the name change in paper mentioning the name changed from as mentioned in indian passport to as mentioned in US passport.

But in reality per US there is no name change at all. Its the way the indian passport had my expanded middlename in given name column. I do not know what to do?. Is legal to print name change here when there is technically no change in the name at all /

Actually, there is a name change.

Your Indian passport says your first name is Z but your US passport says your first name is X.

But you see my firstname in indian passport is listed under "Surname" and i used the same. My name as per bith cert, marriage cert is what is appearing in "surname" in indian passport.

Just to add to the point below. While putting my name they did not put my first name under given name. Do you think we can explain this to consulate and be able to get an OCI without name change advertisement. You see technically i have not changed my name.

No, it is really considered as name change.
