Hello,
I have been in the US since May of 2006. Went to visit India once in Sept 2007. Now, I'm getting married in Sept 2010 and my fiancé is a US Citizen. Currently I'm on a company sponsored H1B visa. Please tell me what would the process be to getting my green card after the marriage.
Also, is it really necessary for me to hire a lawyer and pay lawyer fees or is this something we can do on our own???

Once you have marriage certificate, your spouse has to sponser you GC. you might receive the EAD with in 2-3months. For approval, it might take more time, some of my friends said 6months, some said 12months...so it just depends on case by case.
