Exclamation Tourist Visa query for Senior Citizen

My parents, sister and niece will be applying for a visitors visa to visit me for 2 weeks.
Someone back in India has advised my father (63 years old) to carry his medical documents to the interview to show the consulate officer.
    Is this really a requirement?
When I had applied for my B1/B2 visa I did not carry any such documents...so is this something specific to an older person?
