    Default Insurence + Guidence Required

    Hi Friends, & Narendra (have seen you getting reply's for insurance related queries),

    I am Vijay, currently in Bangalore. I have an offer to move to US for a period of 2+ years. I have below queries before deciding on the offer... please help me;

    1. My wife's pregnant, nearing 3 months. And once we travel which is in another 1-2 months; will I be able to get health insurance for her medical expenditures (including delivery)?
    2. Would it be good to move into US with the expected child considering the citizenship issues?

    Please help me with info; so I could decide better; Thank you;

    If she is already pregnant, you can not get any insurance from an open market that would cover her any expenses related to the maternity or delivery. She should come to the U.S. only if you are willing to bear all her expenses yourself. If you want your child to be U.S. citizen, that is the price you pay. Your next question would be how much it would cost: $15,000 to $20,000 for delivery with no complications. If there are any complications, either for mother or child, the cost may run into hundreds of thousands of dollars.

    Of course, if your employer has a group insurance that would cover her existing maternity right away, that insurance may for the expenses. Other than, you can't search for any such insurance youself because it does not exist.
    Thanks & Regards
