F2-H1B of F-1

Hi,

I am a PhD student from greater boston area. I want to bring in my wife along with my kid. I cant afford their stay with the stipend what i get so I need my wife to either work {she is a MSc (Biochemistry) and MBA (HR) from India} or join as a PhD student in some of the universities (its bit tough to get into PhD).

My question is if she comes on a F-2 visa as my dependent want to get converted to H-1B will it be possible, what are the requirements and how long does it take for the visa change. I believe its very tough to get a job and sponsor here!!

If she gets a PhD offer from one of the university what we need to do for the visa change from F-2 to F-1.

For H1, she must find a job and an employer willing to sponsor H1. Change of status can be done within the US automatically with the H1 petition.

For F1, she can file I-539 to change status from F2 to F1 after getting admission or alternatively travel to home country, get an F1 visa and enter.
