    Default Employment binding on H1B

    Hello All,

I have signed an offer agreement with my H1B sponsor(Indian Consulting company) and i am currently working for them. The agreement has below clauses:

    1. I have to work 18 months for them, if i leave before that i shall pay immigration fees, relocation fees, liquidity damages all accounting to 10000 USD.

    My Question is,

    1. Can my consultant take any legal action which affects my career if i quit them without working for 18 months and not paying the 10K USD as mentioned in offer? I plan to leave them within 6 months.

    Thanks,
    Balu

In general employers can recover some expenses from the employee under such agreements. It will be good if you show this to a Labor lawyer and take their opinion.
