Thread: I-130 approved

    Default I-130 approved

Hi, I am a newbie and need some feedback.

I filed a stand alone i-130 on behalf of my mother.
Presently my mother is in the US.
    Here are the results:-
The above petition has been approved. We have sent the original petition to the Department of State National Visa Center.(NVC), 32 Rochester ave, Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909. NVC processes all approved immigrant visa petitions that need consular action. It also determines which consular post is the appropriate consulate to complete visa processing. The NVC will contact the person for whom you are petitioning (beneficiary concerning further immigrant visa processing steps.

    My question is:-
    What's next?
Can my mother go ahead a file i-485?

    Thansk

You must call NVC to inform them that your mother will be adjusting her status in US. NVC handles cases for future immigrants who are not currently in US.

Since mom is here, you have nothing to do with NVC. File the I-485 along with the required documents. I-485 form has instruction about where to file and I am pretty sure that it is Chicago.

    Regards to your mom!
