    Default Question about surrender certificate

Am I right in understanding that if I have a canceled stamp on my Indian passport then I do not need to get a surrender certificate to apply for OIC. The stamp was acquired in 2006 and the passport itself expired in 2007.

    Thanks.

Edit: I saw the sample cancelled passport and my passport just says cancelled on it. The corners aren't cut and it doesn't say acquired US citizenship. Does that mean I need to get a surrender certificate or is it valid?

You are better off with obtaining a surrender certificate. The cost is just $20 and you will get a certificate also.
