Default Question for Insubuy regarding a visitor's insurance plan that I purchased.

I live in California and I purchased the ATLAS AMERICA plan for my Mother who will be visiting me soon. A few questions.

    1) I got this long NOTICE stating that this provider is not licensed in CA (see below). Not sure what all of this means. Should I cancel and opt for another plan?
    2) I purchased the insurance only for one month although my Mom will be staying with me for 4 months. I am planning to renew it on a month to month basis without breakage. Is this ok?

    Thanks
    Rajesh

Default Our Experience with Visitors Insurance

Last few years either my Parents or In-Laws are coming here. Every time they come we have taken the visitor's Insurance from Insubuy. Last time my inlaws were here, we took my mother in law for favour and cold. Eventually they did not cover, we have to pay about $160.00.

Just last month, we took my dad to hospital, he was complaining about a stomuch ache. When went to Doctor Office, he wrote some medication and suggested if the situation do not improve we need to go for endoscopy. When contacted the Insurance they were saying at this time we can not say. Once he goes to the doctor based on the report from the doctors report we will make a decision. He never complained stomuch ache so far in life. But the insurance people was saying based on the docotor's report we will make decsion. If at all if is eligible he will be paid maximum of $450. Where as the doctor's bill going to be around $1200.

We took the policy for $100,000 and deduction of $100. But looks like there are lot of fine prints and conditions what are eligible not eligible etc.,

This is our experience. We are looking for better insurance, when my parents visit again next year. If anyone have inforamation please let us know.

You have not specified what kind of visitors insurance you had purchased. Therefore, it is difficult for me to provide specific answer.

Please note that there are primarily two types of visitors insurance plans:
    Fixed: Cheaper, limited coverage
    Comprehensive: More expensive, better coverage

From your post, it seems that you have purchased a fixed coverage plan which pays a fixed amount for each and every procedure and you have to pay the difference. Please read Visitors Insurance Types for more information. We always recommend that everyone please buy comprehensive coverage plans only.

Please note that if your expenses are below the deductible amount and/or below the covered amount, you would have to pay them yourself, no matter which insurance plan you buy from any company.

What you have been told regarding how the processing of the claims work is accurate and that is how all the visitors insurance plans from all the companies work. Please read
International Health Insurance Claims and all articles within it to understand how the visitors insurance claims process works.

Each type of insurance plans (whether it be life, health, auto, home or visitor insurance) has its own sets of limitations and exclusions. I also recommend that you read Visitors Insurance Expectations article to set your expectations right from visitors insurance.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time.

And I request that, in future, please start a new thread to start the new discussion. That would help us keep everything easier for other web site visitors to understand.
    Thanks & Regards
