    Default Name mismatch issues

    Hi,

I am US citizen and I am planning to sponsor my parents for family-based green-card.

However, I have been finding name mismatch between various documents.

For example, my father's name in all the documents (my passport, his passport etc) is mentioned as "Naresh".

However, in my birth-certificate , my father's name is mentioned as "Nareshchandra".

My question is--> What should I do so that this name mismatch does not cause issues during green-card process? Do I need to create any affidavit or some other document?

My followup question is--> My parent's marriage certificate has my father's name mentioned as "Nareshkumar" at one place and in the same certificate, his name is mentioned as "Naresh" at another place. Again, What should I do so that this name mismatch does not cause issues during green-card process?

(I am in USA and right now, my parents are in India)

Your help/feedback/suggestions are very sincerely appreciated.

    Thanks in advance-
    Nikhil

What name does your fathers birth certificate have ? Is it the same as in the passport.?
Even if its not the same...You have to make a afidaviit mentioning that all the names refer to the same person..These afidavits can be done on 100 Rs stamp paper out side the court..just ask you father to make a note of all the possible names in the diff documents etc. I will send you a format if i have one. We had got it made for my brother.

Unfortunately i dont have a answer to your case. But if i were you i will check with a good lawyer in India (If you are in India) OR you can do it at Indian High Commision. THey will advise you. They have a form for change of name /birth. Tell them about this issue and your realisation. Hopefully its not a big issue. Can sort it out.
