India passport renewal - Question

Hello,

I hold an Indian passport and it is expiring in the month of August 2011.

My questions are:

1) Before how many months of expiration date I can apply for a renewal?
2) How many supporting documents I need to submit as proof of address ?
If its two documents, then
I am sharing an apartment with my friends and do not have any other document as proof of address except my driver’s license.

Can I use Vonage land line bill as second proof of address?

Or please suggest what else I can do.

I am in similar situation. I want to renew my wife's passport. She is on dependent VISA.

1. Utility bill/ Driving License and Vonage Bill is on my name. Will that be okay as proof of residence?
2. Do you need Indian address proof? Her passport contain address and date of birth. Will that not be enough?

Thanks for your inputs. I plan to submit following documents. could you please confirm if it looks okay to you?

1. Proof of Status : My i797, I129 and all L1B documentations, My Visa Copy, I-94 copy

2. Proof of residence : My driving license, marriage certificate, utility bills, apartment lease agreement copy, vonage phone bill

3. Do I need to get these documents attested or notorized?

Indian Passport renewal

Hi,

I currently reside in Utah and need to renew my Indian passport. I looked online and came to know about the consular jurisdictions. Since I live in Utah, I am not sure if I have to compulsory go to SFO or can visit consulate in Houston.

Is it mandatory to renew your passport under the jurisdiction that you currently reside or do we have an option to choose any consulate.

Please guide.

hi i m on h1b visa, and my wife has h4 visa which is dependent visa.......her passport gets expired in these month now for the passport renewal i need her address proof which i m not able to submit as i m staying with my brother in law and i dont have anything either on my name or on my wifes name yet
wht i have on my name is driving license and my bank account thats all..........
can you all help me how can i got further with the renewal process

Passport renewal with L1B: Question on Proof of status

Hi

I am staying on L1B Visa and I need to apply for passport renewal in Indian Consulate SFO.

My Visa valid upto Jul, 2011
My I94 valid upto Feb, 2013
petition valid upto Feb, 2013 (Blanket petition)

My question is about proof of status. Will they accept my petition as a proof of status?

I dont have a original petition. Its a copy of original petition filed by my employer.

Please advice.
