Hi,

I applied for passport renewal last week,
1) how many days it will take to complete the process.
2) Is there any way to track my passport status?
3) If i want to go to india urgently, what is the process.

depending under which administrative region you have applied, it should take 3-4 weeks.

If it is urgent, you should have mentioned it in the application and provided the supporting documents.

You may want to visit the embassy and formulate your chances for tatkal.

All the contact details are published on the Embassy website, but i doubt if you can get a reply from them. You can try your luck! Well there is no other tracking mechanism.

One thing you can try is ask someone in India to contact the Indian Passport Regional office (Passport Issuing Authority) where your passport was issued initially and see if they received any inquiry on your passport, as the clearance is faxed by them to Washington DC.

You should wait 3-4 weeks to get your passport.

Indian Passport renewal

Hi,

I currently reside in Utah and need to renew my Indian passport. I looked online and came to know about the consular jurisdictions. Since I live in Utah, I am not sure if I have to compulsory go to SFO or can visit consulate in Houston.

Is it mandatory to renew your passport under the jurisdiction that you currently reside or do we have an option to choose any consulate.

Please guide.
