OCI-SFO Processing Delay

Dear folks,



we applied for OCI online on Dec 15th,2010 and after that all the papers were fedexed . which the tracking number shows were received/signed by SFO office. However till date even after almost 5 weeks, the online status shows as
"This case is not yet acknowledged by Mission " , where as they have already received the online application as well as all papers those sent in fedex mail.

Though we have not sent the original US passport yet, as waiting to see the status to show as granted online before we can send them to counslate for OCI visa/Card.



How much time is being taken in total processing.

I am wondering b/c another friend of mine had received his OCI Just within a month, .

what is the best way to follow up .

Can someone advise which email/phone/fax number is for OCI cell Sanfranciso counslate.?

Hi Sunny,

They don't respond quickly for emails or voice messages if you post or fax or
phone... that is the stupid and rediculous consulate i never seen in my whole lifetime.

I am trying to reach them since 15 days.... all the possibilities i have gone through and fed up finally.

the only one way u can catch them is to go thier office personnaly if you stays very near place. apart from that theier is no alternate.

Also I think they have mentioned clearly that you must submit the Passport in Original in BOLD.
I am not sure because may be you did not send in the Passport in Original they are just holding on to it

The SFO OCI processing seems to be taking a long time. I had sent my application on Dec 20, 2010 and I don't see any acknowledgement. If you check the tracker, there are quite a few folks, who had applied before me and they haven't received any acknowledgement. Also, few weeks back when I checked, the application date for which the OCIs were getting processed, was Dec 2. So my guess is that, in another 2 weeks, they should be done acknowledging the 2010 Dec applications. However, there are instances where applications with later date, have already been acknowledged. Not to mention, you are supposed to send the original passports with the application. I don't think that is delaying your acknowledgement but that could delay your processing. So please send your original passports as soon as you can.

OCI applications received till December 10, 2010, have been processed.

Finally, after more than a month (almost 8 weeks), my application was acknowledged.

I believe it depends on the consulate. For SFO, you have to send the original US passport with the application.

Folks - It has been 6 weeks since I mailed the application - no acknowledgment yet. The website days "check back in 3 weeks". Have sent 2 email for status inquiry - no response. Anybody having similar experience? Any luck/suggestions on getting a response!
