passport renewal - new york

I had applied for passport renewal in Indian Embassy at new York.

I filled the application couple of days back and selected date Jun 06, 2011 as apt date.

I just mailed my application today (June 3, 2011). I did priority mail which takes 2 - 3 days.

1) If it reaches on June 7th, will there be a problem?
2) I believe the date we select online is just a formality to complete the application. Right ?

It doesn't matter if it reaches a day late. The date you select at the end of the application only matters if you do a walk in at the Consulate for which you have to be consistent. But if you're mailing the letter, it doesn't matter.
