    Question Extension for my parents

    Hi ,
My parents are here in US with me for about 5 months and I would like to extend their stay for 3 more months . Some of my friends are saying I can do so,but some are saying it's not advisable .could you guide me in this regard which is advisable and good so that I can plan accordingly.

    Thanks in advance.

Visitors are generally expected to only visit and not stay. Your parents can file I-539 to extend their status before their I-94's expire and if USCIS feels that they have a genuine reason it may get approved, but generally it is difficult to prove genuine reason.
If it gets denied after their I-94's have expired, their Visas are automatically void and their illegal stay is counted from their I-94 date.
Even if it is approved, they may need to spend more time abroad before they can return.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
