    Default Indian Visa? or OCI?

I am an Indian Citizen and my wife is a Canadian citizen. We both become naturalized US citizens this month. My son is born here in US and none of us have our US passports yet and we are just about to apply for them. We have plans to go to India in the first week of October. The US passports seems to be taking about 6 weeks of time and the Indian Visa might take another 3-4 weeks of time. What is the best way to approach this situation?

    1) Can I use my Indian passport for this travel? Will there be any problems for that trip or when I eventually apply for a OCI card?
    2) Can I apply for my wife's Indian visa or OCI card with her valid Canadian passport with out having to wait for her US passport? Can we use Indian consulate in Vancouver for this purpose?
    3) My son will be 1 yr old in October. What is the best way we can get him either an Indian visa or OCI card?
    4) We live in Seattle and our consulate is San Francisco. Can we approach the Indian consulate in Vancouver?

    Appreciate your quick response. Thanks.

You can't use Indian passport for the travel once you acquire US citizenship. It's illegal. Look it up you may find good valuable info.

Your wife needs US passport. No you can't use vancouver... US and Canada are 2 countries.
    3) My son will be 1 yr old in October. What is the best way we can get him either an Indian visa or OCI card?

    4) We live in Seattle and our consulate is San Francisco. Can we approach the Indian consulate in Vancouver?

    Appreciate your quick response. Thanks.

Its faster to get US passport and Indian visa.

I had my oath ceremony on July 28th, 2011. Had got an appointment with the Los Angeles passport agency for next day, applied and got the passport the next day (depends on the day of travel). Then applied for Indian visa, applied in PERSON in San Francisco and got my Indian visa same day in the evening.

So all should be fine with your travel date being October.
Request appointment at the passport agency - by phone 24 x 7 or go in person and get a number at the Will call.
Then fill in visa forms, get an appointment and apply in person. You can apply for entry visa for your family.

Check the respective websites for more info (travisa outsourcing)
