Traveling for work between OPT and STEM authorization

Hi,

I have been asked to travel for the company I work for but my OPT EAD will expire during the trip. I am applying for a STEM application as I studied Math but I wont have a new EAD until that application is processed and approved. Is there a way I can get special permission to travel (and return)?
