Getting married during OPT, is it possible to bring wife to USA?

Hi,

I am in my OPT working for good company. My OPT started Feb 2011. I am getting married in MAY 2012. After marriage will I be able to bring my wife. What will be the risk of her and mine to return to USA. How should I apply her for dependents visa. Please give me more details and help. The time is close and I need information. Has anyone gone through like this before. Please share your experiences.

Your wife can apply for F2 Visa and come. I assume you have the 17 month extension in May. There is a risk of denial because she will not be able to show non-immigrant intent. It becomes difficult being on OPT. Also, on F2 she will not be able to work or study in the US. If your employer can file H1 for you, she can come on H4 Visa which is much easier because it allows for immigrant intent.
