  • F1/F2 visa stamping

I am currently in USA on F1 Visa, OPT period along with my husband on F2 visa. We are planning to go to India in Jan, 2012 for visa stamping in Delhi Consulate.
    The visa history for myself:
    1. Came to USA in 2005 on F1 visa
    2. Last visited India in 2006 August for my engagement
    3. Graduated in Aug, 2011 and filed for OPT
    4. OPT started on 1 Sept, 2011 and joined Job on 19 Sept, 2011.

The visa history for my husband:
    1. Came to USA in 2004 on F1 Visa for MS
    2. Last visited India in August 2006 and got engaged.
    3. Finished his MS in Dec, 2006 and started OPT and started working.
    4. Received H1 in Oct 2007
    5. We got married in USA in 2008 March
    6. Transferred to L1A in June 2009 and worked for a different company
    7. Got his F2 in March 2010 and has maintained F2 since then.

Now we are planning to visit India and have a wedding ceremony there. We are applying for F1 F2 visa stamping and need advice regarding what documents to carry and how to prepare for the interview.

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks

In general your F1 and F2 applications are like any other. Being on OPT makes it difficult to obtain the Visa since you have not shown any intents to return to home country. You have to prepare true and convincing reasons as to why you will return to home country. Property, family or job ties help. Your husband needs to answer how he will spend time in the US since he is not allowed to work or study.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
