b1/b2 visa and indian passport got wet.

my b1/b2 visa got wet on the very day i recieved it.even my indian passport was partially damaged.while a look at the visa can let u know about its category date of issue n almost all details the photograph is slightly blarred......went to the new delhi consulate they gave me a yellow slip saying your passport does not have a page to place a us visa kindly come to the embassy with a new passport u donot need to pay fee or appear for interview incase u get a new passport......now what does this means.....like if i go with my new passport will the restamp my visa.....i have heard b1/b2 cannot be restamped.....initially i was granted a visa for 10 years.along with my husband n two kids while they r ready to fly asap i am like stuck.....pleassss advice

Generally, they don't transfer the U.S. visa into another passport.

However, if they are saying they will do it, go for it after you get your new passport.

Please post your experience either way for the benefit of others.

Please follow their advice. Apply for Indian Passport under Tatkal, you should get it in about 10 days max. Then follow the US Consulate letter and visit them. They will do whatever they need to do.

Don't get scared. Everything and anything is possible in this world.

guys super impressed with the us style of working.....the officers at the embasy in delhi were very coperative they r actuly there to judge u n help u out.....very helpful indeed my visa was transfered into a new pasport in two visits and 1 single day 24 hours stat.....after i fulfilled they condition ie got a new passport in turn of a damaged passport.absulutely no fuss ......where as i saw somany cases being delayed for days months ......well to do people were being asked 100 question as for my case it was realy very simple alll i had was my education qualification n i didnt lie a word at alll ...

firstly i had to explain the situation to the security staff,they told me to go to cabinet 30 inside the consulate new delhi wher an extremely coperative officer (donno his name rely grateful ) asked what happened n how.... i told him only the truth simply the truth as it was....and said it just had to happen i am otherwise a very responsible women he smiled n said yeah i guess it had to happen n asked wen do u intend to travel... again i gave him a honest reply n the prof i had for the same. .....he said let me see what can be done went away for a minute came back n said ok relax and get a new passpost asap he gave me a yellow slip saying ur passport does not have enof space to place the visa........i went back to the same counter after i got my passport made......they told me to come the next day to collect my passport n it was alll done so glad.......
