Sponsorshirp issues and i-864

Hello,

Hope you can help, here is my situation:

My father-in-law needs to submit an i-864 for himself as the original petioner, but he has not had a job or income since he got his greencard two years ago. Now, I financially qualify to become a sponsor or joint sponsor, not sure which. I live with my father-in-law in the same household and he is a dependant in my income taxes because my wife petitioned for him and became his sponsor. Since my wife is not working, I would like to help, but not sure what application to fill-out as the i-864a does not list the apppropriate relationship I have with my father-in-law nor his children.

Besides the application, my greencard shows my father's and mother's lastname while taxes and birth certificate just father's last name, would this be an issue?
