Renewing my old passport! Any issues at airport?

I am indian passport holder and i have schengen biometric residence permit valid until Aug 2012. My passport is due to expire within a year. I am planning to visit Europe this march 2012

To avoid last minute rush, i am planning to reissue passport to extend validity next week. I am assuming that new passport comes with new passport number.

1. Will this new passport cause problems and questioned by foreign immigration authorities in EU , when i travel outside india next time?
2. Will i be asked for any police clearance etc when i travel from delhi airport, since i believe i am going on long term visa?

Please help! i am going alone this time and kind of afraid to travel.

P.S: Address, name etc will be same as old passport.

The reason why i asked (1) is when i take new renewed passport and show at the foreign immigration counter, they will have only old passport information in their system, & i havent updated them with the new passport information or at the immigration office. Based on the old passport information, they have issued me the biometric residence card.

i am sure passport controls in various countries, will have a way to deal with renewed passports for incoming passengers.
