Passport Renewed with Invalid Expiration Date

Hi all,
I am in a strange situation, and trust the Indian Consulate in Chicago to not respond to any communication.
I recently got my passport renewed (it was set to expire Feb 29, 2012), and the final expiration date that some genius at the consulate put is Feb 29, 2021.
I did not think much of this, but having recently bought tickets to travel abroad, I realized that 2021 is not a leap year and hence there's no Feb 29th.

Is this going to be a problem when I travel?

Thanks for the reply! Just out of curiosity, apart from the expiration date, what else tells an immigration official that the passport is a valid one?
Mine is a machine readable one, so i was wondering if that info. is present when they scan or swipe it.
