Indian passport renewal and address change

Hi my passport going to get expired on 2013, i would like to renew my passport and also like to change indian address. For me Chicago is a very near. I need your help on what are the document they required to change my indian address in passport.
I can get following utility document for them as proof but im not sure whether they consider below as a utility bills
1. LIC payment (generated through online)
2. NRI bank statement (I can get either through online or can get hard copy)

is that enough of providing that as a proof? pls help me

No, they are not utility bills by any means.

You need something like landline phone bill, electricity bill, cable tv bill, water bill, gas bill etc.

Did if my employer provide that i was residing in corresponding chennai address, does Indian consulate in USA can accept that?

I have all document (ration card, Electricity bill, GAS bill etc), but everything is in my home at Chennai. im here in US i cannot get bills from Chennai. Any other way i can provide evendence to Indian consulate in US?

can anyone help whether employer letter with new address will be acceptable by indian consulate?
