Default Birth Certificate - Non Availability for Parents

    Hello,

I am applying for Green Card for my parents.

Dad was born in Nawabshah Sindh Pakistan in 1944.
Mom was born in Karnataka in 1949.

They currently live in Mumbai and do not have their birth certificate.

What should be done? Please help.

I have found that we need:2 things:
    1) Affidavit from an older relative
    2) Non Availability Certificate from their place of birth

Is this correct? Do they have to travel to Pakistan and to Karnataka to get the Non Availability from their place of birth?

    Thanks so much in advance!

    Default

Non-availability certificate must be taken from the place of birth.

    Read http://www.immihelp.com/birth-certificate/

However, as your father's place of birth is in what is Pakistan now, it is not that easy. I suggest that you contact an immigration attorney here in the U.S. who is of Indian origin and he should be able to help you with this matter.
