Waiting time between Visa applications.

Dear All,

I am in F-1 (OPT) and employed with a company. I am planning to bring my wife and 2 kids on F2 status. If they get rejected for F-2 status for some reasons (as I saw two cases in this forum), I am planning to bring them on H4 status, as my employer is ready to sponsor me.

My question is: How much time one needs to wait to apply for visa under different categories?

Does a rejection under F2 will impact the subsequent H4 status too?

If this is your first H1, it will only begin on Oct 1 and not before. (Unless you work for a non-profit educational institution). The H1 petition can be filed on Apr 1 or later. Your dependents can apply for their H4 Visas any time after H1 petition gets approved, but they cannot travel to US before Oct 1.
F2 denial will not affect H4 application.
