I am running a BPO company in India and my US client has invited me to attend some meetings/training (duration: 1 week). I don't have a valid US visa. I have visited US in the past (on a student visa to study MSEE and have worked on L1 for a top US firm). I need to travel during the first week of April.
I am also planning to take my wife during my 1 week US trip. My wife has traveled abroad (as a tourist), but has never visited USA.
I have a few questions on how to successfully obtain visa for both of us:
1. Both myself and my wife are partners in the business (a private limited BPO company). I am going to apply for the B1 visa. As I am not sure if my wife would be able to answer all the questions put forth during the business visa interview, I am suggesting my wife to opt for the tourist visa. Am I doing the right thing? Is it true that the rejection rate is higher in case of tourist visa - compared to the business visa. Please let me know.
2. Should we go for the visa interview together? Or should I go and try to get the visa first?
3. The BPO company that I run is only 2.5 years old. Is this going to be a problem? Should I be prepared for any questions regarding my company's track record, which isn't that great?
4. How much finances should I show - for myself and my wife?
We have a 5 year old kid and we have a decent income in India (from salary and rent - combined income of Rs.1200000 per annum).
I look forward to your inputs.
