    Default Date change on I-94

    Hello,

My father came to US on visitor visa last week. At the port of entry, he was not asked about how long he will stay and the officer stamped an expiry date on 26th Aug 2012 on the I-94. however, my father has a return ticket of 30th August 2012. My question is, how can I get the date changed on the I-94 so that my father does not become illegal for 4 days. What are my other options?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

He can try visiting a CBP deferred inspection post at a nearby international airport. If they don't change the date, rescheduling his ticket will be easiest option.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

The officer gave more than 5 months of stay. In this case, they will not change the date at the deferred inspection unit and they will ask you to apply for an extension.

The best thing to do is pre-schedule your departure by a few days.
Maybe you will have to pay a rescheduling charge of 100 bucks but it is much better than going illegal.
