Can I apply the OPT 17 month extension when 485 is pending

Can I apply the OPT 17 month extension when 485 is pending. I never used the 485 -EAD and AP.
I am currently using the OPT-EAD. and it will be expired in 5month. I am wondering

1. If I can apply the OPT 17 month extension when 485 is pending.
2. Will the application of OPT extension will hurt my 485 case?

My attorney said dont use the 485-EAD and AP if you can use other non-immigration visa.

I am in the exact same situation. I applied for I-140/I-485 concurrent (No EAD and AP) on June 28th. I am on OPT which expires on December 20th. I was wondering if I can apply for OPT extension (since my employer is E-verified) while I have pending case of I-485. I have heard the F-1 based OPT extension might get denied due to application for I-485 (since it is considered an F-1 status and for that you should not have any immigration purpose).

Would you please let me know what you did in your case? Did you apply for OPT extension?
