Default Incorrect name on I-797A approval notice

    Hi,

I have recieved my approval notice I-797A (H1B extension) after 5 months, but i see there is a simple mistake in my name printed on notice as below ('R' missing). When i see back my I-797C received notice right after extension application, my petitioner ( via attorney) filed with incorrect name.

I am going to India on vacation on 1st week of May -2012. Can i take visa appointment with this petition? Mean time i am going to tell my petitioner to file for correction.

Please advise who ever has faced this kind of issue? Its URGENT.

    Petition - P KUMA
    Passport - P KUMAR

    Advance Thanks a lot
    P Kumar

This is a typo and should ideally not be an issue - though do work with your attorney to get this corrected

It is advisable to get the petition corrected before your appear for the visa interview. If it was USCIS's mistake, they will correct it for free. But since this is your attorney's mistake, they have to pay to get this corrected. Follow up with your company attorney to figure out how to get this corrected.
