F-1 Renewal while it's valid

I am going to India this month and will be back by May. Although my VISA expires in early June I thought it would be good idea to renew it in the month of May. Based on these thoughts I have booked appointment in May. Will it be a problem because my student visa is still valid ?

I have all the letters necessary for visa renewal and so on from my advisor, department and so on.

It is better to get it renewed while you are still studying (not on OPT). Since the expiry is not long way away, it will not be a problem.

that's what I thought.. it's barely few days for it to expire..
Also, i might have to travel to Spain for conference in few months ! Should I tell consular in case they ask me why you want to renew i now ?
