F1 for 1 semester: Am I elegible for OPT?

Hi All,

I need your urgent advice.

I am currently in my 2nd year of my MBA from a reputed university outside the US and have been offered to go on an exchange to an ivy league business school in the US for 1 semester.

The ivy league business school is offering an F1 visa for the duration of the exchange semester (Aug -Dec).

Now my question is whether I can apply for OPT after the F1 duration?

I am extremely interested in finding a job in the US and your advice will be greatly helpful.

No, OPT and F1 status is for degree program only. Also, you must be full-time student for at least 1 academic year before applying for OPT.
Ask your school's international adviser if F1 is appropriate in your case. J1 sounds more appropriate to me.
