L1B extension - I94 valid

Hi,

I need help if anybody has come across this situation.

Blanket - My L1B petition filed by company ABC in 2010 is expiring in Sep12 where as I94 is till May2014
Company ABC has been acquired by Company XYZ in 2011.. now do company XYZ need to apply extension for me or i am good to work based on current I94?

Looking at different discussions i understand that we can stay based on I94 even if VISA got expired but in my case my employer will be different from fresh L1B to extension.

IMO extension is not needed, but an amendment may be needed because of the acquisition. XYZ should consult with their lawyers.
