Default GC -> Citixenship period - Question on relocation

Hi,

My wife, my daughter and I have GC that we got in April 2001. We are waiting for the requisite 5 years to complete to gain citizenship.

Due to some personal reasons, my wife and daughter would like to go to India for a few years (4 years). If we decide on that, I would continue to stay here till I obtain my citizenship.

As my wife and daughter would be away for 4 years, what would be the status of their GC? I suppose it might be revoked.

In that case, when they would like to come back, what would be the process to obtain the GC/citizenship for them?

All inputs will be welcome.

If they stay abroad for over 1 year, they lose the GC.
Once you are a citizen, you would have to reapply for their GCs. This would be done with the form I-130, just like in any family immigration.
