Hi, there, you are appreciated to answer our questions. Here is mine about the continuous residency. An appliant was never in US for more than two weeks in each trip in the first two years and he once stayed outside for more than one year. In this case,if he files the application for the citizenship, he only waits four years and one day to do when he comes back, doesn't he? And his physical residency meets the requirement. In other words, he doesn't wait for another five years. That is what someone told me. I don't know whether it is true or not. Do you mind telling me about that?
Thanks for your reply. Ann |

Please go to the main homepage of this web site, and then click on citizenship. Then click on Guide to Naturalization. On page 18-24, it clearly explaining about continuous residency.
Even after reading that, if you have questions, please feel free to write it here and I will be glad to answer them. |

Hi, thank you for your prompt reply. I have read the Guide to Citizenship. There is an example about the continuous residency on P.23---- a woman who stayed in US for three years and then went back to her native country for more than one year. Coming back, she can file the application after four years and one day. My situation is a little difference from hers. The applicant has not stayed here even a single month in each trip; therefore,I wonder if when he returns and stays, he can file it as she does. And that is the key point I want to know.
Thanks a lot for your advice. Ann |

Yes, what you heard is true.
If he stayed out for more than 1 year, and if he comes back and stays here for 4 years, he can apply for citizenship. |

Hi, Administrator, thank you again for your advice and patience. Here is the question about the physical residence concerning to the 4 years and one day period. The 5 year statutory residence period requires 914 days physical stay, how about the 4 years and one day status?
Thanks Ann. |
