It's 5 years eligibility from the date marked on your greencard.

Hi,
for citizenship I have to apply to San Jose, CA INS office. I heard that there is one to one-and-half years of backlogging. It's been only 4 years I have received my green card. I will be eligible to apply for citizenship next year. But since there is a backlog period of one year, can I apply this year itself? Does anyone know about this. I very much appreicate your response. -Paris. |

There is no such 6 months rule.
It is only 90 days before 5 years.
