Immigrant Visa (IV)Effective January 1, 2012, U.S. Consulate in Chennai no longer handles immigrant visa. Those in Chennai jurisdiction will be handled by U.S. Consulate in Mumbai. U.S. Embassy in New Delhi and U.S. Consulate in Mumbai are the only two posts that handle immigrant visa in India.
If you currently have pending visa application at the U.S. Consulate in Chennai and were asked to submit additional documents, please contact ChennaiIVU@state.gov for clarification of your status. If your case is cleared by March 30, 2012, it will be at Chennai. After that, it would be at Mumbai.
